 As you leave the paved road entering the columns of Shady Grove Dude Ranch, our Alabama vacation rental, Little River Hideaway...a place like no other is just down the road and around the bend. Please be cautious and drive slowly. Watch out for horses, hikers and wildlife. As you pass the dude ranch, take a right and follow the road down the mountain for 1 mile. Start preparing yourself for a time of relaxation and adventure. Let your window down and take in the unique sights and sounds that Lookout Mountain, near Mentone, AL, has to offer. Wild turkey, deer, rabbits, groundhogs and special plants, native only to this area, greet you on your journey while the gentle rush of the river below creates a serene atmosphere. As you approach the old covered Union Bridge on your right, continue down the Old Military Trail to the unique lodging experience of Little River Hideaway, a place like no other. Walk the stone path to the river, enjoy a picnic on our river boulder, eat dinner on the stone terrace near the river and watch the sun go down over the mountain rim, enjoy a quiet moment on the cabin's 57' porch overlooking the river or on the old metal swing by the river and maybe even sleep outdoors on our fully screened sleeping porch. Of course, you wouldn't want to miss the short hike to Veil Falls or visit the covered bridge for a memory photo. These along with a possible day of golf at Cloudmont or a horseback ride at Shady Grove will make your visit at Little River Hideaway even more memorable. Little River Hideaway..."A Place Like No Other." Upon entering the great room of Little River Hideaway, our lovely Alabama cabin rental, you immediately feel a sense of comfort and welcome. The wood background lends itself to the casual feeling of this river house. Numerous windows make you feel as though you are outside. Upon entering on the porch you get the sense of nature all around you; trees, birds, water flowing below you…nature at its best! Looking below, you see that the porch is built upon a large river boulder! Walking over to the left, enter the screened sleeping porch where you might enjoy catching a nap on the oversized hammock or reading a book on the wicker sofa. Enjoy a glass of iced tea and make the most of this mountain vacation getaway near Mentone, AL. Just inside the screened porch you enter back into the gathering room where you see an over stuffed suede chair and a bookcase that my Dad, James McNorton, built when I was a just a girl. Curl-up and enjoy your favorite book or one we have for your enjoyment. Beyond the reading area, you might enjoy watching Direct TV on the big screen TV or your favorite DVD. Pop some popcorn and enjoy the cozy furniture; you might even build a fire if the night air is chilly. Make some sandwiches in the fully furnished kitchen and enjoy the evening sun setting below the mountain rim in the dining area or on the dining table on the porch. Our porch also features an oversized swing, new Adirondack chairs and a charcoal grill. Below on the stone terrace we offer a picnic table, 2 rustic armchairs and a swing by the river. Little River Hideaway…”A Place like no Other.” The entire house is available for $200 per night up to 8 persons. There is a $10 charge for every person up to 12. (An additional 8.5% lodging tax will be added to total) The cabin's accommodations sleep up to 10 with 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms a large gathering room with dining room, reading area, fully equipped kitchen, 57' porch overlooking the river and screened sleeping porch. Amenities include 1 king bed, 1 queen bed and 1 full bed, 1 futon, 1 set of bunks and 1 pair of single beds, large porch swing, Adirondack chairs, picnic area on lower terrace, charcoal grills, oversized and wicker furniture on the sleeping porch. House features a big screen TV and offers DirecTV and a phone is provided for emergencies and local use. Please bring calling cards for long distance use. Linens are provided.
