The Garden

The garden which includes many different areas and plantings has featured as a garden to visit by gardeners from around the world as well as local. Tudor Park Garden is listed in the NZ Gardens Trust Guide.

Around the house are the more structured areas with opportunity to grow special plants that can be viewed and enjoyed from the house. The aim has always been to use the site to the best advantage. With this in mind the long walk has been developed through 2 very large pergolas to create a vista down the main axis of the garden to draw the eye to the further landscape.

A large pond that was originally for recreational shooting has been adapted to accommodate many choice bog and water plants. This area is an ongoing challenge.

The Rondel where a collection of Old Shrub roses grow is enclosed in a Hornbeam hedge. A canal leads you to another rondel where a sundial the 1st prize from a garden competition is enclosed in a Prunus lusitanica hedge.

There are plenty of seats and arbours offering pleasant resting places along the way, to enjoy the birds, plants and peace.
