A Maori name for "lullaby", Te Popo is a peaceful country retreat of great beauty filled with birdsong We offer bed and breakfast accommodation & fine dining in one of New Zealand's Gardens of National Significance. Treetops Suite Light, bright and appealing. An upstairs suite with large windows overlooking beautiful ornamental trees, the extended garden and the lush hills beyond. The Romeo & Juliet balcony and spiral staircase provide access to the guests' garden.
Rose Garden Suite This ground floor suite is accessed from the Courtyard and sliding glass doors open onto guests' garden where roses ramble over the arbours. Beautifully appointed, cheerful in yellow and blue tonings.
Kingfisher Suite Also accessed from the the Courtyard with glass doors onto guests' garden. Rich tonings of terracotta, cream and azure blue in the furnishings create a warm welcoming ambiance.
The Apartment The latest addition to our accommodation is a two-room apartment designed for those wishing to have a longer stay (minimum 3 days). It has a large bedroom and ensuite downstairs, and a living area upstairs with fully equipped kitchen. Able to accommodate a single, a couple and up to 2 additional guests. For extended stays in The Apartment we are willing to discuss different payment options, for example hours worked in the garden or in the accommodation service for a negotiated part of the tariff. This could suit someone on a working holiday; someone writing a thesis; or someone who wishes to extend their stay in New Zealand and use this place as a base from which to venture forth.
A garden for all seasons This is a "Garden of National Significance" as assessed by the New Zealand Gardens Trust. We welcome visitors to our garden when we are home.
