Glentanner Park offers you the complete Mount Cook Experience. From holiday park accommodation through to adventure activities and attractions, Glentanner has something for everyone.

Partake in one of the many fantastic adventures that leave from the centre, including flightseeing, horse trekking, glacier trips, helihiking, hunting and leisure walks, or just relax and enjoy the world-renowned scenery of Mount Cook National Park.

At Glentanner Park Centre, you'll find a modern purpose built visitor centre with friendly and knowledgeable staff. Within the complex you'll find the Merino Retail Outlet, where you can purchase genuine New Zealand merino woollen goods along with a range of quality souvenirs.

You'll also find a restaurant and cafeteria, for a light snack or a substantial meal. The restaurant is open for breakfast and lunch all year round with evening dining during summer.

Accommodation Mount Cook

Glentanner Holiday Park offers a wide range of self catering accommodation options for families, backpackers and those seeking budget style accommodation. Glentanner Park is the official camping area for the Mount Cook area.

  • Self Contained Tourist Cabins - Fully equipped and self contained accommodation. Linen supplied. Sleeps 1-5 persons.
  • Standard and Basic Cabins - Bunkroom style, sleeps 1-10 persons.
  • Backpackers / Dormitory - Runs from October to April, multishare facilities.
  • Campervan / Power Sites - 60 sheltered sites for campervans, motorhomes, caravans.
  • Tent Sites - Unlimited sheltered camping sites.

Glentanner Adventures

Glentanner Park is the booking and information centre for activities in the Mount Cook region. Many of these activities are based right here!

  • The Helicopter Line - Breathtaking scenic helicopter flights with snow landings. Heli-skiing available.
  • Air Safaris - Spectacular 'Grand Traverse' alpine scenic flight around Mt Cook and Westland National Parks.
  • Mount Cook Ski Planes - Land on the Tasman Glacier and experience the magic of the Southern Alps.
  • Horse Trekking - October to mid April. Guided treks suitable for beginners to experts.
  • Glacier Explorer Boat Trips - October to May - explore the Tasman Glacier terminal lake by boat.
  • Helihike Adventures - Fly by helicopter up into alpine tussock country and explore the terrain with a professional guide.
  • Hunting & Fishing - There are great hunting opportunities for Thar and Chamois. Excellent fishing in local lakes & rivers with guides available. Fishing rods can be hired and fishing licences purchased at the Park Centre.

Glentanner Park Location

Glentanner Park Centre is the Mount Cook motor camp and activity centre complex. Being sited on the shores of Lake Pukaki, and only 15 minutes from Mt Cook, it offers superb views of the mountain and excellent access to the National Park which has long been a sanctuary for mountaineers and adventurers alike.

Set amongst a working sheep station Glentanner Park has wonderfully attractive surroundings and can be used as a base from which to enjoy the many activities which has made this region of New Zealand famous.
