Goulburn River Stone Cottages

The River Cottage
Situated in a sheltered position on the banks of the river about 700 metres from the main house. Built of stone and local timber it consists of a large living/kitchen area with a wide sunny verandah at the front and a basic bathroom at the back. The cottage is powered by gas (stove, fridge, hot water) 12 volt solar lights. A basic bathroom at the back with full-sized bath & septic toilet.

An open fireplace heats the cottage during the colder months. This cottage sleeps up to four people (double bed, couch bed and single bed on verandah). The following is supplied in the cottage:
  • A single and double doona, 3 blankets and 4 pillows.
  • A sample of farm produce (e.g. eggs, vegies and flowers depending on season)
  • All utensils (pots, pans, cups, glasses, plates, cutlery)
  • Expresso coffee maker and plunger
  • Firewood in the winter months
  • (Bed linen can be supplied for an extra charge)

The Saddler's Cottage

A larger stone and mudbrick dwelling (sleeps 6-8 people) situated on a sheltered ridge 5 minutes walk from the river. It consists of a central living/kitchen area (futon couch sleeps 2) adjoined by a small sunroom (sleeps 2-4) and a small double bedroom (sleeps 2). There is a large open fireplace and a full sized bath with shower in the bathroom and flush toilet. Hot water, cooking and refrigeration all operate on gas and the lighting is 12 volt solar powered.
    The following is supplied in the cottage:
  • A single and double doona, 3 blankets and 4 pillows.
  • A sample of farm produce (e.g. eggs, vegies and flowers depending on season)
  • All utensils (pots, pans, cups, glasses, plates, cutlery)
  • Expresso coffee maker and plunger
  • Firewood in the winter months

Barbara's Cottage

Barbara’s Cottage is available for single night bookings. A fully self-contained unique, rammed-earth cottage situated beside the main house. It has an open fireplace, 240v (solar) power, gas stove, hot water system & refrigerator and an on suite bathroom. Sleeps up to 4 people (one double and 2 single beds).

Property

Goulburn River Stone Cottages are part of the property "Gleniston", situated 50 km north of Mudgee on the headwaters of the Goulburn River, Upper Hunter Valley, NSW. The property covers an area of 872 hectares (~2000 acres) and includes large areas of native forest and bushland, with gentle creek flats rising to basalt peaks of grazing country.

"Gleniston" supports a wide variety of inland and coastal flora and fauna and is lightly stocked with cattle and horses. It adjoins Goulburn River National Park, renown for its spectacular sandstone cliffs and gorges where shallow clear water meanders through beds of sand and peat, occasionally forming deeper pools.
