Directions |
|
Directions from the San Jose International Airport to the Hemingway Inn are tricky because many roads in San Jose are not marked. From the airport, follow the signs and take the main highway east into San Jose. It is about a 15 minute drive. Once in San Jose, turn left at the second stop light so that you are now still heading east on Paseo Colon (it is 4 lanes wide). Go a little less then a mile and the main road and traffic does a turn to the right, then left just after San Juan Dios Hospital (on your right). You are now on Avenida Segunda, a one-way 5 lane road going east. In less then another mile, after you go down a hill and start back up turn left on Calle 11 (which isn't marked), one block past the big round Coca Cola sign. You are going north now, and straight ahead about four blocks you will see largest building in Costa Rica, the I.N.S., Instituto Nacional de Seguros (National Insurance Building). The road in front of the Hemingway is one-way, traffic going to the west. So when you get the large building, you have to jog around the one-way streets to the right of it so that you approach the Hemingway coming from the east. Park temporarily in front of the Hemingway and check in with your baggage. We will give you a key to the gate of our reserved parking lot and show you where to park ($8.00 per night).
